At IPS, our STEM schools emphasize a hands-on, problem-based learning approach focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Students will have the opportunity to practice critical thinking, problem-solving, discourse, real-world connection, and goal-oriented actions.

Students will engage in Project Lead The Way (PLTW) courses including: Medical Detectives, Automation and Robotics, and Green Architecture. There will also be an opportunity to work with a computer science educator to hone their engineering skills through the application of theory and design principles.

NURTURING MINDS FOR THE FUTURE

Welcome to James A. Garfield School 31, an inspiring place for students to learn and grow in the historic Bates-Hendricks neighborhood. Our mission is to foster an environment of respect, responsibility, and critical thinking, empowering every child to succeed through an exciting blend of traditional learning and innovative technology. Our focus on outdoor education is manifested in unique features like our classroom-maintained learning garden, which engages students in real-world applications, problem-solving, and cross-disciplinary experiences as we cultivate young minds.
